The Annual Whaley Bridge Gingerbread festival is back!

Come and join us for our Annual Gingerbread Festival at Whaley Bridge Uniting Church on 10th December when they’ll be a whole range of activities for all ages to take part in. Why not also take part in our Gingerbread competition?

01 All DayChildren’s Activities Come along to see Ben and Holly’s Kingdom, Inspector Gadget and Wallace & Gromit. Enter a magic world through a magic tunnel. Follow a maze and enjoy activities along the way until you reach Thomas the Tank Engine. Make and decorate your own gingerbread man and have your face painted too. Be sure to write a letter to Santa and post it in our special Pigeon Post Box
02 All DayRefreshments Coffee, tea and Mince Pies will be served throughout the day, or why not try our delicious homemade soups with a plain or filled bread roll.
03 1pmCompetition There will be a display of pupil’s competition entries from St. James, Kettleshulme, Taxal and Fernilee and Whaley Bridge Primary schools. The three winners will be announced at 1pm and a special prize awarded to each.
04 All DayStalls The raffle with a fantastic hamper donated by local businesses and the ever popular tombola mustn’t be missed. There will be plenty of other stalls including bric a brac, shabby chic and linen and lace. Hand knitted crafts and kits make great Christmas gifts and there will be a wide selection of Christmas stocking fillers, paperback fiction books to put your feet up with after a hectic Christmas and home baked cakes to make life that little bit easier.
05 All DayGingerbread Exhibits What makes you feel in the Christmas mood more than the wonderful smell of Gingerbread? Come and see the wonderful display and competition entries. With three categories for children and adults this year, and judging by two chefs from the University of Derby the competition will be hot. Why not enter? Register at the bottom of this page.

– One entry form is required for each exhibit
– Entries must be homemade and may be any structure made from gingerbread. More than one structure will be allowed provided that the area is not bigger than that permitted.
– Each house should be displayed on a firm board measuring not more than two feet square. Please note: Entries which are bigger than 2 feet will not be accepted.
– All exhibits must be in place between 2pm and 5pm on Friday 9th December.
Please note: Judging begins at 6pm. Late exhibits will not be judged.
– Judging will be based on creativity, appearance and presentation.
– The judges decisions are final.
– All entries are displayed at the exhibitor’s own risk.
– All exhibits must be left for display during the day on 10th December. Exhibitors can collect their entries not earlier than 4pm and no later than 5pm on Saturday.
